Who we are

We are a team of scientists led by DFG Emmy Noether Group Leader Gerit Linneweber. Our research focuses on understanding the origins of individual behavioral variation or animal personality using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as an invertebrate model organism.

What we do

We study the origins of individuality in Drosophila melanogaster, commonly known as the fruit fly. One aspect of our research focuses on understanding the role of stochastic variability in shaping individual differences within populations. To answer these questions we use the Drosophila neurobiology research toolkit.

Project 1

We are unraveling the origins of individuality and the sources of variability.

Project 2

We are exploring individual variability in visual and non-visual behaviors.

Project 3

We are investigating the circuit variability behind individuality.

Project 4

We are exploring individual variability in visual and non-visual behaviors.
